I am finally posting pictures from the race we ran almost a month ago. Opps!!
Our team of six competed in Barrel to Keg Relay Race, which started in Philomath at Harris Bridge Vineyard and ended 69.5 miles in Newport at Rogue Brewery. We competed in this race last year, but this year we all ran different legs of the race. Here are the pics from last year: http://lundesmodernlife.blogspot.com/2012/07/barrel-to-keg-race.html
This year our team sported matching shirts, headbands and wristbands. Pretty stylish!!! Here is our team at the starting line with the barrel.
Kyle started off with the first leg of the race.
Exchange #1- Kyle passed off to Grant. These poor guys started the race off with a couple of difficult legs. The were running up very, very steep logging roads.
But Grant was excited about it!
Exchange #2- Grant passed off to Cassera.
Cassera was our little sprinter of the group! Look at these tight logging roads that the runners had to share with all the race traffic.
Then I was off on leg 4. I made sure to check my time...yep, I was right on target--slow!
Exchange #4- I passed off to Mary and she took off!
Yay, that our first legs of the race were done!
Sweet Mary having fun while she ran.
The guys took the race very serious! Notice the shirts from last years race. :)
Exchange #5- The wife handed off to her hubby.
Matt running the tough terrain.
Exchange #6- We had each completed one leg of the race and then it was time to do another one. Matt passed off to Kyle.
Kyle left the other runners in his dust.
Exchange #7- Kyle handed off to Grant, who took off on his 8 mile leg. It was a long one. If you notice in the picture, most of the exchanges were pretty congested with cars. You had to be really careful.
Grant did an amazing job on his second leg. Even though it was a little over 8 miles, he ran an 8 minute mile.
Exchange #8- Grant to Cassera
Look at her go!
Exchange #9- Cassera handed off to Mr. Matt.
Resting Between Runs
Matt had the privilege of running past the stinky Toledo Water Treatment Plant. Along the race we would stop and water each of our runners. Here is Grant giving Matt his water...
Exchange #10- Hubby to Wife.
Mary was passing people like they were standing still.
Silly Boys
It was almost time for my last leg!
Last exchange - Mary handed off to me. This exchange was 6 miles from the finish line.
I may look happy in the picture, but I was one tired lady.
A Little Runner's Tunnel
We made it to the end...Rogue Brewery (the keg). Our time this year was a little slower than last year, but the main thing was that we made it!
