Day at Doernbechers

Today was surgery day for Beckett.  Bright and early this morning we headed to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital.

While we were in the waiting room, there was a non-profit group that organized crafts for the kids waiting for surgery.  The boys each made bracelets.
Auntie Tera and Cousin Mason came to the hospital to keep us company.
The favorite thing at the hospital were the wagons that the kids were able to ride around in.
Then it was surgery time.  Beckett was super brave and excited to have his hernias taken care of.  We decided to have the surgeon repair both hernias to avoid further problems.
Beckett was quite the trooper when he woke up.  He was groggy, but immediately reminded the nurse about the popsicle she had promised before he went into surgery.
Ready to go home...
Our family and friends were so supportive today and made the day much easier for all of us.
This evening Beckett has kicked back and watched lots of movies.  He is on the road to recovery.
Thanks everyone for the support and prayers!

Piggy Banks

Today the boys took their piggy banks into the bank.  Each boy deposited the money into their OSU college funds.

It is amazing how much change those banks can hold!

Going on a Bear Hunt

Our Friends, The Ell Family, had us over this morning for a Bear Hunt.  The boys looked at the map
and then followed it to the first stop...
 a bear skull.
Then they followed the map to the next stop.
They had to dig for this one.
It was a bag full of bear bones and claws.  Chris had buried the bear paws in a wire bag awhile back and then let nature take its course.
Beckett and Pierce were so excited to find the claws.
 WOW!
 Look at that one!
The boys washed off all the bones and claws
and look at what they were left with.
 What a fun Bear Hunt!

Summer Time on the Coast

This morning we headed to the beach.
 Busy Beckett
 Precious Pierce
The boys started the morning off bundled up because of the wind, but quickly took off their jackets
and pants.

 Who needs clothes anyway?!?
 Beautiful
The boys had so much fun in the water
 and with their friends.
Days like today make you think it is summer on the coast!

Surgery Scheduled

We just took a quick trip to Portland a few days ago.  On the way up we saw this huge elk, on the wrong side of the fence at the elk viewing area.  He was right next to our car window.

The boys were super excited to go to the "toy store" aka Target.  They both had a git card from Christmas to pick out a toy with.
We visited one of our favorite breakfast spots, Stepping Stone Cafe.  The restaurant was featured on Man Vs. Food, where they showcased their "Man Cakes".  Beckett loved the "Man Cake" and actually ate quite a bit of it!
The real purpose for the trip was to take Beckett to the Children's Hospital up there.  We were worried how long it would take to schedule surgery, since Mommy is already 34 weeks.  The surgeon was wonderful and scheduled his surgery for one week later!  So next week we will get Mr. Beckett all taken care of.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Mr. Beckett

Every night Daddy reads to Beckett in bed, out of his Bible.  This weekend they finished the last story!!
There is a new sheriff in town.

The Great Outdoors

First thing this morning we headed to the river to do a little fishing.
 Beckett got right to work.
The boys love exploring Daddy's tackle box and always want something new on their line.
Today was Pierce's first time with his new fishing pole he got for Christmas from Uncle Neal and Auntie Tera.
 Daddy gave Pierce some pointers,
but he got quite frustrated that he could not cast like big brother, Beckett.
He decided throwing rocks was more his speed.
This afternoon we headed to Chetco Point to check out the whale that had washed up last June.  Here is the blog entry from that day: http://lundesmodernlife.blogspot.com/2013/06/look-what-washed-up-on-beach.html
We found remains of the whale scattered along the beach.
This was the coolest one we discovered.
Then we did a little exploring in the tide pools, which is always Beckett's favorite.
 Pierce and Daddy
We found lots of fun shells in the tide pools and the boys enjoyed watching the marine life.
 Daddy and His Boys
What a surprise we had when we got home!  We thought we had checked all the shells for creatures, but apparently not good enough.
Beckett quickly names the hermit crab "Bug" and wanted to keep him.  Look at the little habitat Daddy and Beckett made.
