6 Month Check-Up

Today Beckett had his 6 month check-up (he is really 6 1/2 months old). Beckett now weighs 18 lbs. 14 oz. and is between the 50th and 75th percentile for weight. He is 28 3/4 inches long and continues to be in the 90th percentile for height. She did say he was in the 90th percentile for his head size, but I am sure this is because he has so many brains!!During our appointment there was a lot of talk about food. The doctor said it was fine to try feeding him Cheerios. Here is what happened after the appointment...

Also at the appointment Beckett got his 6th month shots. The doctor told us that he might be irritable later in the day, but not our boy! He was excited to have the shots over with and was ready to play.

He is one excited little guy!! Beckett loves to splash and his new bath toy lets him really kick.

Beckett and His Dad

Beckett loves to play with his dad. Here is a cute video of the two of them.

Weekend with the Duvall's

This weekend the Duvall family came down to Brookings and we celebrated Greg's 30th birthday. Here we are enjoying a great dinner. You can tell Grant was very excited about it!Every great party needs party hats.Instead of cake we had an ice cream sundae bar. The torch on Greg's sundae is ALL 30 candles!!
Every great party needs entertainment too! Here was our entertainment...

Trip to the Beach

Today was a beautiful day on the coast. We all headed down to the beach to enjoy the great weather. A cute picture of the Duvall family! Beckett was VERY excited to have his toes in the sand.

Visit with GG

This week we made a quick trip over to Medford to see GG. Beckett loves the flowers in her yard. Here he is playing with a geranium.

Avocado For Dinner

As you can tell by our family's last couple of blog entries, introducing Beckett to new foods is exciting to us! Last night Beckett had avocado for the first time. Even though he did not eat much, he seemed to be enjoying it.

Tonights Dinner...Butternut Squash

Tonight was the first night that I used my Beaba to make Beckett baby food. Butternut squash was on the menu. You put the squash into the Beaba and then it steams it.
After it is done steaming, you turn the knob to puree it.
Wah-lah! Dinner is served. There was enough for dinner and 7 servings to freeze for later.
Yummy!!
Thanks Grandpa Dan and Grandma Donna for this awesome kitchen tool and all the neat accessories that go with it!

Beckett's First Food Experience

On Beckett's 1/2 birthday we gave him food for the first time. It did not go as we had expected. For the past month he had been grabbing at the food when we are eating and acting very interested. We thought for sure he would just gobble up whatever we gave him . This is what happened when we gave him rice cereal...

Since he did not like the rice cereal, we decided to give him some mango puree. Here is what happened.

The next few days after these videos we tried rice cereal a few more times. Each time we got the same reaction as the first video. So we have stuck with mango. This week we are going to introduce a new veggie! We will see how it goes.

6 Months Old and Off to California

Beckett turned 6 months old on Thursday. Since Grant had to go down to California to do some work, Beckett and I decided to tag along and celebrate his birthday. After Grant finished working on Friday, we headed down to Healdsburg. We had a lot of fun walking around the town and doing a little shopping.

Then we were off to Sonoma. We stopped by one of our favorite wineries, Viansa. The wine is good, but the view is great. Here is a beautiful picture of the boys! Matchy-matchy!

One thing we miss from Arizona is In-N-Out Burger. Here we are introducing Beckett to one of the best burgers.

Beckett was not too interested in the food, but he loved playing with cup and straw!!

San Francisco

On Saturday we drove down to San Francisco. We spent the day walking around the city. Here is a picture of Beckett and I in front of the trolley car. This time we just took a picture in front of it, but we promised him the next time we visited the city we would ride the trolley.
Grant and Beckett down at the Fisherman's Wharf. We walked down to the pier and along side it was this boat. Beckett was so enamored with what was happening out in the water, he would not even give me a smile!Since we did so much walking, we put Beckett in the Ergo. It is the best baby carrier!! Beckett has gotten so big that it is hard to carry him, but the Ergo makes him feel light as a feather (well not quite!).We visited Lombard Street and Grant thought we should walk to the top...We made it and were still smiling. Our legs were shaking a bit though. For lunch we wanted authentic Chinese food, so where better to go than China Town. Here is a picture of Beckett and I in the restaurant. We had a delicious meal and Beckett even learned a little Chinese.
Our favorite grocery store is still Ray's Food Place, but we thought this was a great store too!

Pool Fun

Beckett loves the water, whether it is bath time or just splashing in the sink. While we were in Sonoma we took him to the pool one afternoon to cool off. Here he is playing with his dad. Beckett having fun! This face told me he was done with the pictures!

Redwoods

On our LONG drive home from San Francisco, we stopped at the Redwoods to get out of the car and stretch. One of the wood carving vendors had some great chairs we had to try out!

Dinner at Grandpa and Grandma's House

Tonight Beckett and I went over to his Grandpa and Grandma's house for dinner, since Grant was out of town. Beckett was very excited to sit at the table with all of us, in his new highchair.
After dinner, Grandma gave Beckett a bath.
All snuggly after bath time!
