December 23rd

Advent Activity #23: Go to the Movies

Today I took the boys to see Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and the Polar Express.  When we got to the theater, each of the boys got a ticket for the express.  

 This was Beckett and Pierce's first time going to the movies. 

 The first show was Rudolf. 

 About 25 minutes into the movie, Beckett informed me that it was too scary of a movie and he wanted to leave.  When we were in the car, I asked him what was scary about the movie.  He explained that the elf was firing the other elf and the daddy reindeer was not talking nice to Rudolf.  Maybe we will try the movies another time????

December 22nd

Advent Activity #22: Bake a Birthday Cake for Baby Jesus

 The boys decorated the cake and then asked for a candle to sing to Baby Jesus.  We only had the number two candle, but that didn't stop us. 

 What a delicious red and green cake.

December 21st

Advent Activity #21: Go to the Azalea Lights 

 Tonight we went to the light display with our great friends, The Olsons.

 Pierce loved the "choo choo".

 Beckett was the most interested in the nativity scene.  He was surprised to see Baby Jesus there, since Baby Jesus is not in our nativity at home yet.  We are waiting for Christmas morning to put him out.

Crab Time

A couple of days ago, Daddy purchased a crab from the local middle school fundraiser.  Today we went to pick it up and much to our surprise, it was alive!  The boys sat and watch the crab swim around the sink for awhile.  Beckett wanted to feed him. 

 

 Then came the time to cook the little (or rather big) guy. 

We had bought a few other crabs at the store.  So this afternoon we started cracking.

 All the boys dug in and got their hands dirty. 

The crab was delicious!!!!

December 20th

Advent Activity #20: Go to Jammie Time at the Library

Tonight the boys put on their Christmas jammies and we headed to the public library.

 They listened to Christmas books and songs being performed.

How fun!

December 19th

Advent Activity #19: Make Snowman Pancakes for Dinner

 Aren't they pretty?!?

 The boys assisted Daddy on the griddle.

 Our other Advent activities continue...tonight the boys opened the Christmas books for Day 19.

 Last year we did the scripture chain, but this year we changed it up a bit.  Each night Beckett pulls a chain

 that lists the story to read,

 from his "Jesus Storybook Bible".

 There are 25 stories in his Bible that lead up to the birth of Jesus.  Tonight Daddy and Beckett read the 19th story. 

Only 6 more days until Christmas.

December 18th

Advent Activity #18: Read the Christmas Story

Tonight the boys each got out their Bibles and Daddy read them the Christmas story.

December 17th

Advent Activity #17: Random Acts of Kindness

 #1 We started off bright and early, leaving the garbage man a gift.

 #2 Gift for the mail lady

 #3 Delivered gift baskets to friends

 #4 Went to the laundry mat

 and taped bags of coins to the machines.

 #5 Return shopping carts

 #6 Gift for our favorite checker

 #7 Treats to the postal workers

 #8 Brought a gift for the Giving Tree

 #9 Brought Grandma and

 Daddy breakfast at work

 #10 Left change on the vending machine

 #11 Visited family friends- We brought them a gift and they had these cute bears waiting for the boys.

#12 Took food to the Food Bank

#13 Brought the Children's Librarian a gift

#14 Left notes on bathroom mirrors

#15 Went to the Dollar Store

and left bags with $1 in the toy section

#16 Took flowers to several residents at the Good Samaritan Center- Beckett said this was his favorite activity. 

#17 Wrote a chalk message in the neighbor's driveway

#18 Took a movie and popcorn to a friend

#19 Left a big tip- After all the Random Acts of Kindness, Beckett asked to go to his favorite restaurant.  So we did and it was the perfect place to finish the acts of kindness.
